It’s been a bit longer than expected since my last blog post, but I’ve been busy with fun and some not-so-fun things these past few weeks. I will be sharing more in the coming posts, but I figured I would start with some of the fun first. Last Sunday, my husband and I celebrated our sixth year wedding anniversary.

Every year it seems we have been blessed to commemorate the anniversary of our nuptials in new and different ways. We have celebrated by going on domestic and international trips, which typically included a fancy dinner and thoughtful gifts. Sometimes they go as lovely as planned and other times we find ourselves learning to just roll with the punches.

Two years ago, we gave up our much-anticipated trip and instead celebrated with a nice dinner ordered in at the hospital where I was very pregnant and on monitored bed rest. Later that same evening we were pleasantly surprised to receive an in-person delivery from our dearest friends with some decadent Sprinkles cupcakes.

Last year we left the boys with my parents for the first time and took a quick 30-hour trip to Solvang, where I had to limit my wine tastings to tiny sips and pump in the car between visits to our favorite wineries.

This year, my husband and I decided to have dinner at a restaurant we knew would not be as enjoyable with our two energetic kiddos. When we arrived for our early dinner reservation, we laughed because it was literally toddler and baby central! After dinner and after the most horrendous traffic trying to park at a venue, we wrapped up our sixth year wedding anniversary with a Coldplay concert along with close to 90,000 other people.

In the end it truly does not matter what we do or if our anniversary celebration includes a stamp on our passports, a quiet and romantic dinner, or not. The important thing is to remember that incredible day and how it was not only one of the best days of our lives, but a day that marked the beginning of an adventure far more amazing than we could’ve imagined it would be. The road hasn’t always been easy, but I know I chose the right person to walk that path with, hand in hand and who still calls me his bride.

Every August 21st, we remember that unforgettable day in 2010 at Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu, and relive the memories through photos and videos. Now, our highlight video has become one of our boys’ most requested things to watch on my computer. Here are just a few photos from our day, which cemented my love for envisioning, designing and carefully planning fun, romantic and detailed weddings…

We also had the honor of having our wedding featured on two of my favorite wedding sites!
